How We Work

Image

Together, the E-coach and student work one-on-one to develop a strategic plan for success. The plan they create takes the student throughout his or her entire undergraduate career. Because E-Coach meet with students on a weekly, biweekly or monthly basis, they can carefully track the student's progress.

For example, a student comes in needing career coaching on how to become a consultant. During the assessment by one our professional career coaches, the industry requirements are matched against the student's experience and knowledge. From there, a detailed, strategic plan emerges to show the students the steps he or she will need to take. If there are gaps in what the industry requires, and what the student offers, the plan will include the necessary steps for addressing those issues.

For instance, the student has good grades and volunteers regularly, but lacks the leadership or project management skills. A part of the student's strategic plan will involve the steps to gain this experience.
The student could be given the option of pursuing a position in student government. If the student chooses this path, the E-Coach will outline the steps the student can take in pursuing the position. The steps could be as simple as introducing the student to the student government advisor, to including the necessary techniques of a having a successful election campaign.

Then, at the end of each year, the peer consultant and student will re-evaluate the plan. As we know, even the most well thought out plans can hit a snag. Plan 4 Success points out the pitfalls or stumbling blocks and finds the right resources to alleviate them. Or the student may change his or her career goals. Either way, the plan is revised until it fits the student's needs.

As the student nears graduation, the plan becomes more intense to include subjects like internships, job interviewing skills, networking skills, resume building and more. Plan 4 Success leaves nothing to chance. Every task a student takes on will count toward achieving the long-term goal - taking his or her place in Corporate America.
